Amon
Amon was a king of Judah, son of the wicked Manasseh, who reigned only two years and revived his father's idolatry without his father's late repentance. He forsook the LORD and served the idols Manasseh had made, and his own servants conspired against him and killed him in his house. The people executed the conspirators and made his son Josiah - who would become one of Judah's greatest reformers - king in his place.

Did You Know?
Amon revived the idolatry of his father Manasseh but without Manasseh's late repentance, reigning only two years before his own servants assassinated him in his house (2 Kings 21:23).
The people executed the conspirators and installed his eight-year-old son Josiah, who would become Judah's greatest reforming king - so Amon's brief, wicked reign gave way to a golden age.
His name may derive from the Egyptian god Amun, a fitting irony given his devotion to foreign gods.
