Tekoa
Ask about Tekoa
Tekoa was a town on the edge of the wilderness of Judah, a few miles south of Bethlehem. Its best-known son was the prophet Amos, who was 'among the herdmen of Tekoa' when God called him to prophesy against the northern kingdom. Earlier, Joab fetched a wise woman from Tekoa to persuade King David, through a carefully acted story, to bring his banished son Absalom home. Rehoboam fortified Tekoa as one of Judah's defensive cities, and King Jehoshaphat led his army out into the wilderness of Tekoa, urging the people, 'Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established,' before God routed the armies of Ammon, Moab, and mount Seir.
