You Shall Have No Other Gods

Illustration of You Shall Have No Other Gods

The first commandment establishes the foundation of the whole Law: exclusive loyalty to the LORD who redeemed Israel from Egypt. It forbids acknowledging any rival deity and demands that God hold first place in the heart. Jesus summed up the Law's first table in this direction - to love God with all one's heart, soul, and mind.
