Lamech
Lamech was the son of Methuselah and the father of Noah, the last generation born before the Flood in the line of Genesis 5. He named his son Noah, saying, "This same shall comfort us concerning our work and toil of our hands, because of the ground which the LORD hath cursed" (Genesis 5:29), and died five years before the Flood came.

This Lamech (father of Noah) is distinct from the earlier Lamech of Genesis 4, a descendant of Cain who boasted of killing a man and took two wives.
Lamech died at 777 years old, five years before the Flood - he did not live to see the judgment his father Methuselah's death year is traditionally linked to.
