The Woman with the Issue of Blood
For twelve years this unnamed woman suffered continual bleeding, spending all she had on physicians who could not help her, a condition that under the Law also left her ceremonially unclean and socially isolated. Hearing of Jesus, she pressed through the crowd, believing that if she could only touch the hem of his garment she would be healed - and the moment she did, her bleeding stopped instantly. Jesus, perceiving that power had gone out from him, stopped to find her rather than let her slip away anonymously; trembling, she came forward and told him the whole truth. He called her "daughter," told her that her faith had made her well, and sent her away in peace - restoring not only her health but her dignity and place in the community, in the middle of an urgent journey to heal Jairus's dying daughter.
