Domestic Violence

Domestic Violence

Domestic violence is not God's design for marriage or family, and Scripture never asks a victim to endure abuse silently in the name of submission or peace. God is described repeatedly as a refuge for the oppressed and an enemy of violence - safety, protection, and help are not unspiritual desires but exactly what a God who hates violence wants for you.

A Very Present Help in Trouble

Psalms 46:1

Near to the Brokenhearted

Psalms 34:18

God's nearness to the brokenhearted and crushed in spirit speaks directly into the isolation abuse can cause.

T18he LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.

The Wicked Loveth Violence

Psalms 11:5

Scripture states plainly that God's soul hates the one who loves violence - abuse is never something God sanctions or overlooks.

T5he LORD trieth the righteous: but the wicked and him that loveth violence his soul hateth.

Fear Thou Not

Isaiah 41:10

God's promise of presence and strength is offered to the fearful and threatened, not only to the comfortable.

F10ear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.
