The Holy One of Israel
Isaiah's favorite name for God - perfectly holy, and yet 'thy redeemer, the Holy One of Israel.'
The Holy One of Israel (קְדוֹשׁ יִשְׂרָאֵל, Qedosh Yisrael) is the signature name of God in Isaiah, who uses it twenty-five times. Isaiah had seen the LORD high and lifted up while the seraphim cried 'Holy, holy, holy,' and that vision shaped his whole message. The name holds two truths together: God is utterly set apart, pure and majestic, and yet he has bound himself to one people - 'thy redeemer, the Holy One of Israel.' Israel's sin provoked the Holy One, but the same Holy One promised to help, redeem and dwell in their midst. Its first appearance, in 2 Kings 19:22, also comes from Isaiah, in his message to King Hezekiah.

Did You Know?
The Holy One of Israel appears thirty-one times in the KJV. Twenty-five of those are in Isaiah. The name is almost Isaiah's signature.
Isaiah received his call when he saw the LORD on His throne and heard the seraphim cry, "Holy, holy, holy." He never got over it. Holiness became the lens through which he saw everything.
The name joins majesty and nearness. The Holy One is high above all, yet He is "in the midst of thee." The One Israel had provoked is the One who promised to redeem them.
