The Chief Cornerstone

Illustration of The Chief Cornerstone

Drawing on Psalm 118 and Isaiah 28, the New Testament calls Jesus the chief cornerstone - the stone the builders rejected, which God made the foundation of his household. The whole church is built upon and aligned to him. To some he is a sure foundation; to those who reject him, a stumbling stone. He holds the entire structure together.
