The Holy One of God
In the synagogue at Capernaum a man with an unclean spirit cried out, 'I know thee who thou art, the Holy One of God.' It is striking that an unclean spirit was among the first to name Jesus' holiness. The title echoes the Old Testament's 'Holy One of Israel' and the psalm that says God will not 'suffer thine Holy One to see corruption,' which Peter applied to Jesus' resurrection. Peter also told the crowd in Jerusalem that they had 'denied the Holy One and the Just.' Jesus is wholly set apart, pure and belonging to God.
