The One Mediator

Illustration of The One Mediator

'For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; who gave himself a ransom for all.' A mediator stands between two parties to bring them together. Job lamented that there was no 'daysman' who could lay his hand upon both God and man, and Moses stood between God and Israel at Sinai. Paul declares that Jesus alone fills this role, because he is both God and truly man, and because he gave himself as the ransom that reconciles. Hebrews adds that he is 'the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises.'
