The Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil

Illustration of The Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil

God placed this tree in Eden and forbade Adam and Eve to eat of it, warning that in the day they did they would surely die. It was the one boundary that made obedience meaningful - a test of trust in God's word. When Eve was deceived and both ate, sin and death entered the world, and human history turned on the fruit of this single tree.
