You Shall Not Murder

Illustration of You Shall Not Murder

The sixth commandment protects the sanctity of human life, made in the image of God. It forbids the unlawful taking of life, and Jesus deepened it in the Sermon on the Mount to include unrighteous anger and contempt of the heart. To value life as God values it is to reflect the character of the Creator who gave it.
