What Does Romans 6:23 Mean?
23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
What It Means
This verse is saying that our wrongdoing naturally earns us death and separation from God-like a paycheck weโve worked for-but instead of leaving us with that outcome, God freely offers us eternal life as a gift we could never earn, and that gift comes only through trusting in Jesus.
It matters every day because it takes the pressure off trying to be โgood enoughโ on your own and replaces it with gratitude and freedom: when you mess up, you donโt have to live crushed by guilt, and you can choose to live with hope, purpose, and kindness knowing youโre already accepted and loved.
