The Kingdom of God
The Lord is revealed throughout Scripture as reigning in sovereign power over Israel and all creation, calling his people to live under his righteous rule amid the nations. This kingship reaches its decisive expression when Jesus announces that the kingdom of God is at hand, breaking into the present through his ministry and the response of faith. Already active in the lives of believers, the kingdom remains not yet fully realized, pointing ahead to the day when every opposing force yields and God's reign is displayed in perfect glory.

Did You Know?
Jesus began His public ministry with one announcement: the kingdom of God is at hand. Everything He did and taught was an explanation of what that kingdom looks like on earth.
The kingdom is not a distant future reality only. It is present wherever the King is obeyed. The parables, the healings, the teachings were all demonstrations that the rule of God had arrived.
We pray "Your kingdom come" because we know it is not yet fully here. We also know the King has already been crowned. The kingdom is both now and not yet, tension and promise.
