Faith vs. Works

Faith is trust in God that saves; works are the actions that faith naturally produces. Scripture teaches you're saved by faith, not works - but genuine faith always shows itself through works.

Point by Point

Faith Works
What saves Salvation comes by grace through faith, not as a result of works (Ephesians 2:8-9). Works don't earn salvation, but James says faith without works is 'dead' - proof it never existed.
Order Faith is the root - trust in God's promise, especially in Christ's finished work. Works are the fruit - the visible evidence that faith is real and alive.
Paul vs. James - a false tension Paul (Romans, Galatians) fights against earning salvation through law-keeping. James fights against claiming faith while living with no change at all - they're answering different problems, not contradicting each other.
