Freedom from a habitual sin or addiction
If a sin feels like it controls you, take heart: the gospel speaks directly to bondage. 'Sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace' (Romans 6:14).
Freedom usually comes not by willpower alone but through Christ - 'if the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed' (John 8:36) - honest confession (1 John 1:9), bringing it into the light with a trusted believer (James 5:16), and renewing the mind so the pattern is replaced, not just resisted (Romans 12:2). Expect a process, and expect grace along the way: 'he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ' (Philippians 1:6).
Falling is not the end - 'a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again' (Proverbs 24:16).
