I am afraid of dying - fear of death

Fear of death is deeply human, and the Bible takes it seriously enough to make defeating it central to why Jesus came: he took on flesh and died precisely to 'deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage' (Hebrews 2:14-15). ' (1 Corinthians 15:55), 'to be absent from the body' is 'to be present with the Lord' (2 Corinthians 5:8), and Jesus stakes everything on his promise: 'I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live' (John 11:25).

The most quoted psalm in history was written for this exact fear: 'Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me' (Psalm 23:4) - notice it is a shadow, and notice you do not walk it alone. Practically: fear shrinks when spoken - pray it plainly, tell a mature believer, and anchor yourself in the resurrection chapters (1 Corinthians 15; John 14:1-3 - 'I go to prepare a place for you').
