Pornography and what the Bible says about it
Scripture does not use the word 'pornography,' but it speaks directly to what it involves - lust, and defiling the body God calls his temple. 'Flee fornication... he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body...
your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost' (1 Corinthians 6:18-19). The psalmist resolved, 'I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes' (Psalm 101:3), and Job made a covenant with his eyes (Job 31:1). Pornography trains the heart toward lust (Matthew 5:28) and can become enslaving, but Scripture promises freedom: 'if the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed' (John 8:36).
Practical steps include confession to God and a trusted friend (1 John 1:9; James 5:16), removing access, and renewing the mind on what is pure (Romans 12:2; Philippians 4:8). There is no condemnation for those in Christ (Romans 8:1); God meets repentance with mercy.
