The Bread of Life Discourse
The day after feeding the five thousand, Jesus taught the crowds who sought more bread that they should labor for 'that meat which endureth unto everlasting life.' He declared himself the bread of life come down from heaven, and his hard sayings about eating his flesh and drinking his blood caused many disciples to turn away - leaving Peter to confess, 'thou hast the words of eternal life.'
