Sex before marriage and living together

Scripture reserves sexual intimacy for marriage between a husband and wife. 'Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge' (Hebrews 13:4).

Believers are called to 'abstain from fornication' (1 Thessalonians 4:3), because our bodies belong to the Lord (1 Corinthians 6:18-20). This is not because God wants to withhold good, but because he designed sex as a covenant bond meant to be protected.

If you have already crossed this line, there is full forgiveness and a fresh start in Christ (1 John 1:9; Romans 8:1); many believers choose to honor God from this point forward, whatever the past. Purity going forward is still a gift you can give.
